Marco Battaglini

MARCO BATTAGLINI (1969) is an Italian artist born in Verona. He has lived in several countries, finally settling down in Costa Rica 25 years ago. His innate rebellious soul was blessed with growing in a freethinkiing nucleus, his parents saw in him an energetic influx that they chose not to repress, on the contrary, they stimulated and directed him since he was a boy towards a promising artistic path.

He graduated from the Università di Venezia (I.U.A.V.) and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. Today Battaglini is a renowned international artist, who has exhibited his artworks in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Tokyo, Colonia, San José, Basel and Dubai. He has worked with big brands such as Dolce and Gabbana and Playboy and collaborated with international stars including Kylie Jenner.

The work of Marco Battaglini is a constant dialogue between classical elements and contemporary urban scenes, in which the artist reveals the possible coexistence between the ideal aesthetic canons and street noise.

This opposition elevates the mundane towards the spheres of the divine and at the same time brings down the untouchable to the plane of daily life. Both worlds merge in an eternal moment of truth where man perceives his own finitude by becoming aware of himself and his role in an ever-changing and evolving scheme. Battaglini invites us to rethink ourselves in this global village where the supposed democratization of culture has led to a heterogeneous and inconsistent collage.
